About the Business
Clifford Smith & Buchanan was founded in 1928 by Mr. Clifford Smith. During the war, Clifford served with great distinction as a squadron leader based in Burma and was mentioned in despatches. We are very proud of our roots and we retain his name to this day!
Ian Buchanan qualified as a solicitor in 1968 at the age of 21 years, one of the youngest solicitors ever to qualify in the country, with a distinction in criminal law. His son, David Buchanan, joined the practice in 2006 as a trainee and was admitted as a solicitor in 2008. On 01 October 2012 David became a partner. Prior to being a solicitor David worked as a researcher for Salford University having completed a masters degree in creative technology. David qualified with distinctions in property law and criminal law (although the firm does not deal with criminal matters) and has brought an in depth knowledge of computing and design to the practice; he was awarded a commendation by the Royal Society of Arts in 2001.
